Turkey's DST extension is now official

2015-10-01

As previously reported by several unofficial channels, Turkey will keep Daylight Saving Time (DST) two weeks longer than usual this year. This decision has now been confirmed by the official news agency Anadolu Ajansı, and published in the governmental Resim Gazete.

The DST extension is intended to facilitate the 1 November 2015 election, by ensuring that the sun is still up when the poll closes at 5 pm.

Daylight Saving Time in Turkey will end at 4 am on 8 November 2015.
